Lifesling for Sailboats

March 1 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

$65
Cruiser's College Instruction on Powerboat Hoisting by Linda Lewis

Instructor: Margaret Pommert

The biggest challenges are finding a good location for the Lifesling and, most importantly, figuring out how to rig the 5:1 Block and Tackle connection-point that is high enough and strong enough. Margaret Pommert teaches Lifesling recovery on sailboats. The classroom portion of the course includes a video of a Lifesling recovery, a demo of the gear, and a time for trouble-shooting ideas for YOUR boat. The second part of the course will be a lab, hands-on practice session, working with the retrieval gear – everyone taking a turn actually hauling someone up into a mock-boat who is seated on the floor in the classroom building. Can YOU get your partner into the boat?

Capt. Margaret Pommert is a US Coast Guard licensed 100-ton captain and works as a nationally certified instructor for both sailing and powerboating. She attended the SVC Marine Maintenance Technology program and is an ABYC certified Marine Diesel Advisor. A leader in the Pacific NW women’s boating community, Margaret was honored with 2019 National Women’s Sailing Association Leadership in Women’s Sailing award.
